Ignition troubles
I was getting everyone in the truck (99 Durango 318 4WD) Monday morning, to take my oldest son to school. I had the truck running, and as I was getting the last little one in, the truck just dies. I tried to restart it, with no luck. It would turn over, but not fire up. I then ran a direct wire from the battery to the positive wire going into the coil. It fired right up and ran like a champ, however, I don't want to run it much like I have it now. I have already replaced the plugs, wires, cap and rotor.
Now, my question is what is causing my problem? It has to be something between the battery and the coil, but I am at a loss.
Need to get this fixed ASAP, because we depend on this truck every day.
Thanks, dogthenine

This one is strange; I'll take it on tho.
After some thought I think I'm ready for this one. I think your battery cable ends are bad were they connect to the battery or a bad connection on the coil.
Other possibilities include:
Possible bad battery. Have it load tested at a parts store. I recommend Auto Zone. Great batteries, (gold for sure) great prices, and awesome warranty's.
Also a bad alternator or also a bad voltage regulator. The regulator is built in to the alternator. As a rule of thumb, replace the battery and alternator at the same time. Also the parts store can check the alternator. I would recommend a 136 watt.
Also check all grounds! Re-clean necessary contact points if dirty.
I have seen too many issues like this resolved just from buying a new battery.
