I have 2000 Durango built 10/99.The left CV shaft failed quickly after the hub bearing.Ihave tried to find a replacement with no luck so far.I have tried the Dealer,Advance Auto,Napa and Auto Zone.The problemwith all their parts are that the snap ring location is all wrong.On my failed part the snap ringgroove is locatedabout2 inchs inside the shaftthat will put the snap ringon the spline about 1/4 inchfrom the end.All the shafts I have found have the groove for the snap ring is about 1/2 inch inside the shaft and will cause the shaft to lock in with a lot of spline left over.I have shaft on order from advance that might fit due to that fact that it says it will fit thru 9-11-2000.But I'm not going to bet the bank on it after the dealer part was wrong too.Has enyone ran into this problem before?

your truck(2000) was built at the end of the 1999 production year, the factory used the 1999 parts in a 2000 vehicle that was redesigned until they ran out and then the new part would go in. In most cases it does not matter much but in this case it seems it does

gm/ford/dodge they all do this


basically your truck is a 1999 durango(parts) branded as a 2000

so when ordering parts say your d is a 1999 and the parts should be correct

but now that i think is a 99 durango different from a 2000 for a cv axle, I think it is but someone correct me if I am wrong

 

Sorry I forgot to mention I had Advance order a 99 shaft and it bolts onby the waya round plate.Mine splines on,so no dice.I can not believe that the dealer could not help me.
