Default whats a recommended air intake system?

hey guys. i was wondering about getting a air intake for my 2001 slt dodge durango 4x4 4.7 L . is a afe cold air intake good or will i have to worry to much about getting water in my engine? and is a k&n fipk air intake good. whats a good air intake that you got the most power and acceleration from thanks

Also don't worry about some water getting into the engine. Aslittle water gets inside it evarorates before or after detonation. The only thing this can even do is steam clean the cylinder. You just don't want to have water sitting inside a cold motor creating rust.

I have the k&n cold air intake,performance is good but the mpg went down.but if you do any towing i think it helps alot

Interesting. My K&N is just a OEM replacement filter and not a CAI replacement and my MPG went up 1+ mpg.

AFE makes a real nice intake for the 4.7. I used their washable, non oiling filter one and was very happy with it. The placement of the air filter is much better than where K&N puts their with the FIPK. I also used the FIPK, and performance wise, I never noticed any increase with either. I am back to using the stock airbox with a K&N dropin filter, and an Airaid intake tube.

I had a ebay CAI with a heat shield on my dak, then I went to a K&N drop in, and I noticed more with the drop in.

Well with the cai it is wit my wife driving . She does have a lead foot.The mpg only dropped .5 mpg. It still averages aroung 18 to 19 mpg.the exaust is next.
