just got all my fluids changed yesterday (engine oil, trans, front and rear diff, transfer case, coolant, pwr steering), don't think i missed anything. Had the brakes done recently so they should be fine. Everything looks good. Also i will be using a tow dolly instead of a car transport, will save me about 1300 pounds, so i will be towing around 4000 pounds instead of 5000, should make it a bit easier on the D.

yeah, 1000 pounds is a lot of extra breather room, so i am hoping to get some extra fuel economy out of it. Not to mention the dolly costs only half of what the double axle trailer costs to rent. Would prefer to have my car completely off the ground, but this way is a bit more practicle.

Well i finished the trip. Unfortunately the tow dolly would not work with the car i was towing, so i had to go with the auto transport trailer. So i was towing approx 5000lbs between the car and trailer, plus some luggage. I have to say i was quite impressed with the way the D pulled. I was able to maintain 110km/hr quite easily, only slowing down when i hit hills or in strong winds. Some hills were quite steep and long so i went up them pretty slowly and had to drop gear to get up. But other then that i had no problems, and my gas mileage dropped about 30% on average. So pretty happy with the way the D handled the trip.

Glad to hear the trip went ok. Upon taking a second look, I realized that the 3.55 gear specs are around 5k, and not the 6 you can do with the 3.92.

thanks man, and yeah the towing specs for my set up are 5400lbs i think, so i was really pushing my limits, which is why i am so pleased with the way the D handled it. However i wouldn't recommend anyone doing what i did on a regular basis as i was really running it hard, for me it was a one time thing though.
