Default Want to lift my 2000 Durango 4x4

[align=left]I have a 2000 Durango 4x4 but face one problem. How to lift it? i was thinking about a 3 inch body lift but i dont know how it will ride and look or take the other more expensive route and buy the tough country rancho lift for it and slap some 33" mud tires on her. And suggestions or know of any cheaper suspension lifts???

GO WITH THE BODY LIFT!
i have a 5.5" suspension lift on mine 99 and have had nothing but problems, if you want to go with the suspension lift you might consider upgrading the front end, like swapping in a straight axel, the ifs doesnt do so great in my opinion,(my front axel has broke 3 times now from not being designed to handle 33's)heavy duty swaybar and brackets (mine busted like they were zip ties) and0heavy duty ball joints. plus if gas mileage is a concern then just plain forget about it, i get 8-10 mpg city and 12-15mpg hwy. just my opinion hope it helps but i think i would be happier with the body lift.
oh and i have 33s with a 5.5' lift and my tires still rub so .....good luck

Do you know how the body lift will ride or look? Like will you see the frame?
and what suspension does your durango have? if i was to go with suspensions i would go with the Rancho Tuff Country 3 inch with either 33's with trimming in the wheel well or 32's but if the body lift looks great and rides smooth with no flaws then yea thats what i was thinking.

well with the body lift the durango is going to ride the same as it does now with maybe a lil bit more body roll than your used to, also when changing tire sizes dont forget to recalibrate your speedomoter. you will see the frame with a body lift, but if it looks bad i would suggest using like some rhino liner or anykind of roll on bed liner and put it on the frame, it will make everything look better plus it is a great protectant from the elements.

Hey guys I also wanted to do a lift. I was thinking a three inch fabtech lift with 22's and 33's and 20's and 33's for the cold seasons. I took of the plastic in the inner fender well and beat the meatal on the driver and passenger side. That took away the rubbing problem that I had.I just wonder if fabtech is a good company to go with.

then you shouldnt have any problems, just a smaller turning radius unless you get alot of back spacing on your rims

Cool dude. You have been the most positive in the threads that I post in. Thanks again. I like the look of big rims and thick tires. the smallest I may go would be 18's an 33's. I know that I will have to cut the front bumper to fit 33's. I also plan to lift my "D" with a fabtech lift kit. So it wil be 3 inches. I feel like the wheel well is not the proprer size to fit the right size tire and wheel combo, so I will modify it, besides what I have already done. Do you have any Ideas?

other thantaking a reciprocating saw the the bumper all i can think of is maybe a body lift, also if you have running boards that my come into play too with bigger tires, mine come about 1/4 of an inch from rubbing when i turn you cant even get your finger in there.
