Default How to replace transducer pressure sensor for code P1762

Does anyone have instructions on how to replace the transducer pressure sensor for code P1762 on a 2003 Dodge Durango? It is 2wd 5.7 engine. I found instructions on the solenoid. Thanks.

First of all you have a 5.9L motor I would assume and not the 5.7L consitering the 5.7L is the HEMI.

I believe the code was:
P0762 Shift Solenoid C Stuck On instead of the p1762 that you indicated.

This is a shift solenoid that is hung up most likely from metal flakes floating in the system. To replace it you need to drop the trans pan. Other than that without the model of trans I can't help you anymore. The system sould be power flushed and a filter change before replacing it.

Smile P1762 code for 2001 Durango replacement

I have a 2001 Durango R/T - 4WD
5.9 Liter (360 V8)
Check Engine light came on.
The truck would accelerate slow and would feel like I hit a wall when I shifted into reverse.
Found parts at Transtar Industries in Phoenix, AZ - www.transtar1.com
I replaced the Govenor Pressure Sensor (Part #12415C(Old part #20A-120B)) and Solenoid (Part # 12432A (Old part # 5A-303)
Cost around 140 dollars for the two parts.
Took around 3 hours.

I had to remove the transmission pan and then the sensor and solenoid were in sight. There were a couple of bolts and had to disconnect the clips for the wires. Replace the two parts and put back on the bracket and bolts. Put pan back on and fill with tranny fluid. Pretty easy fix. The engine light then went off.

Once you have this problem, do not drive the vehicle. I found some metal (looked like part of a heavy duty piston ring) in the transmission pan and wish I would have fixed it sooner. I am not sure what the metal is for and the truck seems to be performing alright after the fix. I did not see in the transmission anything missing either.

I had some good info from this site so I am sharing my experiences. I am only a shade tree mechanic that do not want to pay a mechanic or dealership.

No, I don't think it would.

The Dakota came with the 42RE, 46RE, or the 45RFE transmission so I think it is a 42RE, but I don't know. The Dakota section would be able to help you, post your question over there.

the tranny from a dakota should be the same as long as the engine is the same as what you have in the durango.
