2001 Durango Transmission Issues - Electrical?
Thanks in advance for all of the help.
About a month ago out of nowhere my SUV started dying as I pulled up to stop at lighs...and even when shifting into gear. Took it to AutoZone and pulled a code for TCC solenoid...but I've heard that Durangos don't even have TCC Solenoids. I don't know. Took it to Mr. Transmission and they said they'd have to pull it to look at it, but they thought the clutch had locked up.
I decided to try some simple things first...flushed the fluid, changed the filters, etc. Here's the deal...it will shift into gear and go about 75% of the time without dying, and about half time I can come toa stop without dying...one day I drove it around the neighborhood several times with no problems at all! How could this be a locked-up clutch? Is there something electrical that could be causing this?
Thanks again...and God bless!

Craig:
Sounds like your TCC is possibly sticking or otherwise not disengaging. IIRC, there is a relay that you could temporarily pull under the hood that would stop it from engaging.
If this action resolves the issue, you will have more data to aid in your diagnosis.
Although not a completely uncommon issue, we do not see it very often in the Durangos.

Did you get a P1740 code or P0740? From what you are saying, The torque converter is locking up when coming to a stop. The cause could be a torque converter thats lock-up all the time. With scanner you can see if the torque converter is in TCC or not.
