The Mrs complained about the door lock making a noise like the mechanism is bad. So, I figured
removing the door panel is easy. Well, I removed the two screws at the bottom, one in the handle
area and one near the top corner facing the door jam. I pulled up on it and it won't slide up and
out. Any ideas as to what's keeping it in-place?

Found a picture. Maybe others can benefit.

 

it wont slide up, you need to pull it outwards - kinda hard. it has plastic anchors which hold it in, they release with a distictive snap. you may break one, but the others hold em on well enough.
