What is your opinion of hydraulic breaks (or whatever they call the trailer breaks hat are not electrically activated?)?

I don't know anything about them. Mine are all electric. (They are "brakes" btw, not "breaks")

Well, I had a leaf spring added to the rear of the Durango the other day. Guy said it should be worth about an extra 1,000 lbs of capacity. I only need it to tow about 6,000 lbs but I just wanted to feel safer. It does feel better and the trailer doesn't seem to "throw" the Durango around as much.

The coming Wednesday I have an appointment to get the gears changed out from 3.55:1 to 4.56:1. He quoted me $750 parts and labor. I'm very excited. That ought to be a fun ride with the 4.56s in it. (without the trailer of course)

1. Go for the 5.9L

2. Go for the 3.92 gears

3. Make sure that it has a tow package installed from the factory. This is ensure all of the coolers you are looking for.

Not to mention, the 4.7L is a pain to work on in my opinion. That's just my 2 cents worth.

Hydraulic suck. If you back up over a curb or up hill the brakes enjage. You are better off going with something like a Prodigy here is a link.

They sell them all over for about $100 bucks and they have an adapter that is a plug and play system for the D if it came with a tow package. The plug is located just above the E brake guts (drivers side) on the top of the wiring harness. (Blue plug)

This is what I run and I love it. I also run air bags on the rear axel for my trailer.
