Let me start by saying I am a mechanical idiot who happens to own a 99 4x4 d. I have the 5.2l and want to upgrade the stock exhaust. I will not be doing this myself, I will have a shop do it, but would rather go into the shop and tell them exactly what i want and go in knowing approximately what it will cost me. I want to put in an exhaust that will increase mpg, a little more power, and so on. What kind of exhaust should I go for? What will the advantages f this new exhaust be? Price estimate? I am not big on sound(the wife would kill em) but a little rumble would be nice. Please help. Is this something I could install myself? thinking of a catback exhaust.

I had my local shop run duals with a flowmaster 40 series muffler
installation, muffler and 18 tips ran me $300
