Default What can I do about the TPS on a 1999 Durango?

After finding my TPS not going through the full range, I decided to change it. Fairly difficult to do since everywhere I have gone, the senor has the incorrect connector on it. The sensor on the vehicle now has a more rounded connector than the other sensors I have tried. What is going on here? They are all keyed right but the connector shape is off VERY little... I don't want to buy a new connector, or splice wires, but if I have to, I guess that is my only option! Any ideas?

Neo:

You have the 5.9 motor right?

What part did they sell you??? Per the Autozone web site, it should be the Wells TPS333 which is the same one that fits my 01.

Even if the connector is a tad different, is should stilll work as long as it bolts up.

Don't do like I did, and drop one of the new bolts down into the engine compartment. Thats how you take a 15 minute job and make it 90.

Sorry bout that... It is a 5.2L... I tried the TPS333. The connection on the new sensor is just a bit more "square" than the one on the vehicle right now, which is a bit more rounded... Everyone is stumped by this... As I said, I'll probably have to just go ahead and buy a new harness connector.

Eh, no... At the dealer it is $105 plus tax... My local Napa wants $95 with military discount... Screw that noise... I was hoping to get one for $45 like I did at Autozone... I guess I will try to find one online for cheaper...

Neo:
Sounds like your D might be one with an early or late build date for that year. Possibly you need one for the previous year. In any case, I would not change the connnector as you should not have to.

Can you possibly post a pic for us to see?? This will be a good thing to document for other 99 owners who encounter it.

I tried one from a 98 also. I DO have a build date of 2/99. If I post a picture, it won't show much unless I do a side by side... Even then, the connectors look the same... I will try to get a picture up... Maybe the camera can see more than I can...
