Default Wiring Help NEEDED asap... =)

Long story short, i had to replace my rear tailgate on the 98D i took everthing off the old one, door lock, handle, wiper, wiper motor, etc, all EXCEPT for the wire harness.. GRRRR

Anyway, the new wiper motors don't have the little intermittent function actually hard wired into them like the 98's did... So my problem is this, the tailgate has the newer wiring harness, and the 98 motor will not connect into it, it has more pins then the newer one. Instead of buying a new harness for 89.00 is their a way to hard wire the wiper in, the connection at the top of the door that connects near the roof is the same, so i am assuming i just need to run a wire somewhere??

Please Help.....

PS... the new motor fits with the new harness, but blows fuses i guess due to the different intermittent option on the newer d's

Since the '98 had the rear washer fluid there, the extra wires are probably for the fluid pump. Personally, I would get a new harness. However... you could get a wiring diagram att he library from a service manual and take your old one out, then rewire.

Help me out on another thing. Where did you get your rear hatch? How much? I need a new one too.

Thanks!

It's not the pump because that does work if the harness is disconnected

Looking at the two motor connectors

the 98 has 4 wires
the 0? has 3

They all connect at the top of the tailgate with the same connector

Both connectors have 3 of the same color, the odd one out is a navy blue colored wire on the 98 motor, SO i need to figure out where to wire this one, as they all connect up at the top with the same connector, i am thinking it just needs to be tied into one of the other 3? If anyone has a 98, if you can look where the motor and harness connect, and tell me where the dark blue wire goes?

The other 3 are black, pink, and orange, which are the same on both

I got the tailgate at a junkyard 200.00

Do you have a manual?

In a Chiltion manual it does have the schmatics. When I get home I will look in it.

It's on it's way. You didn't give me your email address in it so I hope it is going to the right place.

Check the new Do It Yoursefl sticky at the top of this section because I installed a link for schematics.
