I keep my Michelins at 35 psi for normal driving. When towing I will increase the rear to 37 psi. Although the tire shop suggested i go to 40 psi in the rear, I don't do it. I have read that you should never inflate past the manufacturer's sidewall max pressure rating.

no offense but the reason why i am a fan of the latest gen durango is because dodge fixed all these problems. I saw a review on http://ww.topspeed.com and it kinda won me over with this SUV. Dodge did a fantastic job fixing all these details on the 1st generation.

Second generations have more engeneering behind them so of course.....

Even in the manufactured years from 1998 thur 2003 they did many changes but we like the tank look of the 1st geration better.

Michelin LTX M/S 265 70R 16. Second set on the Rango. It's really hard to wear these things out. Stability and traction on most any surface is unbeatable. Expensive? Ya. BUT, you get what you pay for. I guess right know they are going for about $165 - $185 each.

You are right Factory;

Never inflate past the manufacture specifications. If you need more pressure to inflate to then you need to buy the right load rating tire.

I run load range C on my BFG KO 31X10.5 LT15 which the load rating allows for 50 psi.

Default family road trip

I'm taking the family on a 2400 mile road trip to california from montana. Just bought new tires. They say max psi is 45 cold. What is the best psi for that many interstate miles. I running a 5.9. Any suggestions would be great.

A little confusing. 45 psi would indicate trailer tires, although most carry at least 50 psi. Then you mention the 5.9 which would be the Durango. I don't know of any tires for the D that would carrry 45 psi. In any case, I would run them at the max pressure as stated on the sidewall.

Thanks Facory. After reading your reply I double checked, and they acually call for 50 psi. They are "Wild Trac" all season tires, but I thought that was alot of pressure too.
