I have a 2002 Durango SLT 4WD. It is making a loud popping noise from the front driver side when I turn. It is also pulling to the left but then it feels like something slides into place and the steering wheel straightens out. Not sure where to start?
I'd look at the CV shaft as the culprit for the popping noise. As for the other issue Jack up the front end and wiggle the tire to see if you can see any looseness. You will probably have to touch 2 separate components to notice any movement (ie ball joint and spindle) anything that is loose will most likely need replacement. I know that the Firestone here in my area will do an inspection on all of the suspension components before doing an alignment and that is free of charge. You can choose to have them do it or take it off of the rack, DIY, and take it back for the alignment afterwards.
might want to check your sway bar too ive had alot of problems with mine and it pops like that. althought i dont know the difference between the 99 and 02 sway bars
