Stereo Removal
Piece of cake. I took these parts last weekend to do my heater core. Grab the trim piece that covers the edge of the radio and goes around the gauges and pull it off. It is kind of difficult to pull off but don't be afraid, you can use a screwdriver under it to make space to grab it with your fingertips. After that, you will see the 2 bolts that hold the radio in, they use a 10 mm bolt head and thats it.
Also just in case, you will need a wiring adapter kit for the wiring harness.

Don't forget the keys to shift into gear damm brake shift interlocks! If you dont mind addressing the group, what type of stereo ? Also to add to the list of stuff to get, Remember the trim plate bezel. This is the filler panel to make the stereo fit in the housing and fill out the space that the factory stereo uses. Also depending on what stereo you get you may need a antenna adapter, My sony, needed one for my 03 SLT Walmart usually carries the trim panels and wiring harness. I used Circuit City for the antenna adapter but Wally may carry them now, no promises though. GOOD LUCK!!!
As always, make sure if your oem stereo has a OEM amp in the passenger kick panel. If so, you may need a special adapter harness adapt your aftermarket to hookup to the oem amp. Usually the only Durango owners that has the oem amps are those that has the infinity systems.
I thought of going aftermarket but am happy with my oem Infinity deck. I want to keep attention to my interior from thieves to a minimum.
However I am still looking for a good replacement aftermarket amp that will fit the location where the oem amp is at the passenger kick panel. Found a few that possibly might fit. A Sony amp and a Alpine amp with dimensions very close to the oem amp's. It would have been great if Infinity made a oem replacement amp for our Durangos!

this is true for the 98-2000(i think) but the -2 has a different dash style on it the entire piece from the drivers door over to the glove box needs to slide out in order to get it i believe not fun but i have never done it my dad did it to his when he thought the hvac sontrols were fried(turned out to be a fan resistor lol) the entire thing slides out towards the back of the vehicle
this is the new interior
gl with the install and take pics so that the rest of us w/ the new dash style can see what you did

Wow I must have never seen the 01-02 durango's. Ive seen and been in many first gen's but never seen that dash. That is way different than what I was thinking. Although it still appears to be not too difficult. The good thing is that alot of stuff just snaps in and that is also a bad thing if you are not gentle or are impatient.
