"The pulley is an integral part of the water pump" from the manual.

I'll take a video and post it on youtube right now.. It'll take up to 24 hours for the video to be viewable though..

it appears that the pulley is loose, or slack and it causing the entired shaft of the clutch to move..

I'll try to tighten the clutch tomorrow, but I don't see how it can be loose to the point where it wiggles and doesn't fall off..

thats good news! well, not really, but at least I know what it is I need to change.. Should be fixed tomorrow..

Anybody here ever change a timing belt on a VW 2.0L? That's also on my list of things to do.. I'm getting a CEL code, and i figure with 185,000mi on a belt designed to be changed after 60,000, its about time I change it..

I have to pull an engine mount, and remove most of the intake, and disconect fuel lines.. all that on top of wedging my hands between the motor (all 2.0L of it!!) and the inner wheel wells.. stupid transverse mounted engines..

I've been trying to get this done for almost 3 weeks now, but school has been getting in the way.. too many midterms and assignments.. School has slowed down, but the temp has dropped significantly in that time.. flirting with 40 degrees last week, today we're up to like 50 (I'm trying to convert from celcius to farenheit in my head so these numbers might be terribly off).. Prolly try to tackle this timing belt on the weekend, it'll be between 40-50 degrees ( about 8 celcius for those who understand my metric system)
