Default 99 Durango, NEED HELP WITH STEREO

Hello, i am desporate for help. I own a 99 Dodge Durango with the higher class Infinity stereo system. It appers to be that the subs on the drivers front and rear doors are blown and the others are getting their as well. I went to Car Toy's for some new speakers only to find out that sence the radio itself doent have an amplifier, each speaker has it's own. They sugested getting new speakers and a new radio to avoid gettong pore sound quality. Though i want to change speekers i dont have the money for all that nor do i have the skill to replace everything without screwing it up some how. I need to know what infinity speekers would work well, and a set up of 4 subs and 2 tweeters by infinity that is less than $1,000. some one please help .

Each speaker has its own? I beg to differ, tell who ever told you to blow it out their rear.. The stock infinity has a amp, its behind the passenger side kick panel. Yes you wont get the same reproduction of sound (less bass) as you had before with after market speakers. I'd just match the ohms and live with after market speaks for now till you can afford to upgrade. Prolly set you back $60 a pair for a decent pioneers threeway 6.5", and later on you can amp them. your looking at around $150 DIY and maybe bestbuy etc $300 or more installed. You dont need no $1000. speaker setup...

you can change the speakers, no problem.. and if you change the radio just jump the power wire to turn the amp on.. that will save you 50 bucks alone..

Shizno,

If you have not started this project yet, please look in the DIY thread stickied on top. You will see a speaker replacement thread started by me a year or two ago. I as well as other durango owners went thru what you went thru and came up with great options to get the speakers fixed. You can get your OEM's repaired cheap and you can repair it yourself. I did and they sounded the same as before they blew.

Since Cartoys is only in Texas, Washington, Oregon and Colorado, which one are you located in? If you are in Washington, I may be available to help... I got some Infinity speakers and while they lack a LITTLE bit of bass, they still sound awesome... There is another Infinity series that had a bit better bass response and I think total I spent $250 for all 4 speakers...

The infinity speakers are solid as a rock. Bass is as good as it can get with the fac setup.
