ok wanted to swap engine to 5.7 from a 4.7 but from what im gathering even if i could pull it off it would cause alot of problems and i want the most power and performance i can get but not if i have to spend more time working on the truck than i do driving it. anyone have any ideas for more power im not cheap but im also not made of money

 

people have done that swap before, its doable but you need to know what you are doing, or have a shop that does


if you have the money for it i would go for the swap and THEN start modding i know if my engine ever blows im stuffing a 6.1 or a 8.3 in there and then mod from that dont see many of those around in our trucks




but if you have definitively decided against the swap you could start off w/ the normal CAI, exhaust, larger TB, port/polish, cams, manual transmission (ok a little out there, but i want to do that one too) thats all i can think of now, if i come up w/ more ill add it to the list for ya

 

sell your truck, and get one with the engine you want in it

 

nah thats no fun, besides they dont offer the good looking durangos w/ the engine he wants and for me its not gonna happen unless i do something stupid and blow the one thats in it now

 

yeah, but the issue lies in the fact it appears he has no idea what he is getting into...... if you know how to do an engine swap, awesome......


it isn't an easy task....

if you don't know how to do it, and really want it done, you gotta be prepared to spend more than the truck is worth, sadly

 

yea i know it sux, and thanks for backing me on that (i mentioned that on the first line of my first post) it might be chaper to sell what he has and get a truck which already has the 5.7, but i would rather pay for the swap because i cannot stand the look of the new durangos(their *** UGLY

 

i hate the new durangos too, they are fugly.... i do however liek the chrysler aspen..... i know its basically the same, but at least its tail lights dont look like altezza abominations




what about the srt8 charger engine? the 6.1 right? also, what about the dodge 360? the 5.9l. i would think the 5.9 would be an easier swap as the r/t came with them

 

yea the 5.9 is NOT a bad swap as everything bolts right up and the wire harnesses are interchangable and stuff(i think, but would ask varsis fromt he 2nd gen dak section for sure since he did that swap already)

but the 6.1(srt-8 engine) is what i want or an 8.3(figure out what that engine came in )

ya a cummins would be sweet too but something tells me that would need even more changes than the 8.3 to make it fit, and a whole new front suspension which the 6.1 shouldnt require
