Quick question.
Pros: Beastly looking suv. Great offroad if intended since it has 4x4(mine only has 4x2). Very reliable. Easy to work on. Moves well for only 230hp in 5000lbs. Stops very well. Pulls close to 7000lb trailer even with smaller engine.
Cons: 11mpg all city and short trip. Heater core. Mine has lost the power steering pump 2 times in 172k miles.
Some people report trans problems? Mine has never had anything wrong with it even though unfortunately, it gets very neglected.

Just check out the tranny well. That is Chrysler's downfall. The engine is solid though. I have the big brother 5.9 and they just go forever. The heater core is a fairly common issue. Check out the upper ball joints and if they are bad make the dealer replace them. 00' and up had a recall but that wouldn't help you after the purchase. Other than that minor/easy fixes here and there.
I love my beast there is no SUV out there that can really compare in my book. The D is just rugged where every other manufacturer went with making a classy/wimpy looking SUV.

You can't go wrong with this truck, It's more old school than the newer Durangos, (no rack & pinion steering, 318/360, etc.) The last time I took a look underneath one, It had grease fittings at every suspension joint. Like I said, old school/easy to repair maintain.
That would be aftermarket ball joints Kenny.
I cant believe im saying it but, buy it, drop it, throw a body kit on, put two white stripes down the middle, add on a super charger and... I'll trade ya..
