Post Gear oil on a 2001 RT

I am looking to change the diff fluid on my RT. Is it at all possible to do it with out taking off the covers? Using a pump to get the gear oil out? Looks pretty tight to get the cover off the front? What oil have you guys used, I have 3.92 gear limited slip.

thanks

Just crack it. The front is a pretty tight squeeze to get on and off (especially on). It is worth pulling it to get a good look at what is going on in the diff and to clean any crud out that has built up. I personally used mobil 1 on the diff's IIRC it is 75-90 weight. You can pick up some friction modifier from dodge if you want for the rear diff which a lot of the guys on here say you need. I never used the stuff personally as the mobil 1 has the modifier in it already. if you use any other brand than the mobil 1 or MOPAR make sure to get the modifier.

OK thanks for the info. Do you have to get new diff. gaskets , are they dodge only items?

Just use some high temp silicone and let it set before adding any fluid. If you have 24 hours to let the D sit that would be best.
