I've never seen one that does that. Look into your owner manual because I know it talks about it!

If left overnight and fully allowed to cool under freezing temp then it should engage. Again check your owners manual.

If it is set up that way (I am thinking it is) then you should manually shift out of it until it warms up. Remember that oil takes longer to warm up and cool down than water or in this case antifreeze/water.

My D can be sitting for days in below freezing weather. The point is moot on my D. It will not lock me out of 4th gear.

I bought an owners manual on eBay it says nothing on the lockup.

Anyone esle have an owners manual for the 4.7L they could check into (different years)?

+2 even with the rebuilds that my brother with the 4.7 and mine with the 5.2 it still doesn't shift into o/d untill it warms up.
