Default Headlights

I cleaned my headlights today using wet, fine grit sandpaper + polish and they look pretty good, but while I was doing it I noticed that the headlight had tabs on each side - so it looked like the clear/front part "hooked" onto the back/black part. Is this just from installation or something or is it possible to remove it if you wanted to clean the inside?

Also for the light replacements, mine are pretty yellow/old , are silverstar ultras the best way to go replacement wise?

Thanks

You will notice a big difference between the old yellow and silverstars. Also, Walmart also sells a headlight lense restorer for $20 a pack and they work really well on restoring your dulled headlight lenses. I applied this to my camry. It took off the yellow tarnish on my lenses almost instantly. It's been almost two years and my headlight lense on my camry still look relatively new and clear.

I attached a pic of what the package looks like from walmart.
