Default Engine Oil and Tranny Fluid Capacity

hey guys i just bought a '02 durango 5.9 R/T with 82,000 miles. i read online that it only takes in 5qts of oil for this big engine. is this true? can i use 5W-30 synthetic? also, the tranny was rebuilt by AAMCO at 68K but it still doesnt feel right. i want to flush it and put synthetic fluid in. how many qts does it take? thanks in advance. ..

Only use 5W-30 if you are in an extremely cold climate. Otherwise 10w-30 is the way to go. IIRC the tranny takes 5 qt's as well. Only use ATF+4 which is synthetic anyway. Another piece of advice don't ever go to AAMCO again. If you search AAMCO and my name you will get quite a read.

I gotta let everyone know that most AAMCOs blow. Now if you are ever in Iowa City, Iowa and need a rebuild that AAMCO does fine. It only took three rebuilds to find the right AAMCO though...
