LOL! Nightmare indeed!

okay, weep holes... 4.7 stockers have a little drilled or manufactured hole in there. Most aftermarkets either don't have them, or have them in the wrong place. Few work well whereas a stocker 195 replacement is best for the 4.7. If you find you are overheating and have correctly burbed your 4.7 after a stat swap, it's a badly made stat. Unfortunately, I don't know which ones by brand name are good. Again, the best solution is the stocker.

Jet makes a solid aftermarket t-stat.

Strap wrench FTW also. Just pull the belt and go to town. If you want more power now is the time to just put a E-Fan in there.

Indy,

Not to question, but installed in the wrong place?

The user installs it and I wonder if when installing it they should be placed in a special direction if the air hole is installed in the T-stat? I'm thinking there might be back flow if installed in the wrong direction. If installed right on a bend which is on all the motors a slight backflow could occur if the air hole is placed on the inside of the turn. Not dissin the stocker on this, just a question.

Just a thought.........

I don't think so. It is just a little weep hole and it shouldn't need orientation.

all the aftermarket stats for the 4.7's have a weep hole

and it is for air bubbles to past so u know

if and only if you find one without the stupid little hole with the ball bearing in it, take out your drill and make one it is free

I have changed probably 100 4.7 stats over the years and they have always had the hole in them

even the cheapo ones for half the price

Drill a hole and that alows fluid to free flow. I don't like the idea so I just make sure they have them installd in the first place not to mention it one is drilling they can accidently bend the t-stat. If a bent one is installed then a proper seal might not happen resulting in bypass around the T-stat neck creating problems with erossion.

Just not a great idea in my book to drill em.

the e-fan might be faking not working..
so check it as it happened to me and the agency (united motors) said it could be the gasket and they asked me to open the engine and check that, i refused and i only found the problem in the e-fan which was not circulating but faking..

thanks.
