I was putting oil in my wife's D last weekend, and when I open the oil filler, I noticed that the oil was somehow mixing with water. I checked the dip stick and the oil is fine in the engine, but you still get the white residu ONLY in the oil filler. I noticed there's a small hole on the top left that hooks up to some line, but not sure where the line runs to.

Any thoughts?

 

I'm thinking it is the head gasket. Do you have oil in your coolant as well?

 

4.7 engines will do that, I have the same thing happen to mine occasionally, it's just from moisture buildup from short stop and go trips and the condensation mixes with oil and gives you the creamy sludge in the filler neck. I read about this in a TSB somewhere, nothing you can do to fix it. The tube off the side is your PCV valve. Should not give you any issues, keep an eye on your coolant level to make sure it's not a blown head gasket, and change your oil every 3000 miles.

 

My coolent level hasn't changed and after researching more on this topic on the board, i've come to the conclusion that it is the condensation issue in the filler neck ONLY. Makes sense cause it started happening when winter began (Seattle). Thanks again.
