I have a '01 durango 4x4 with the 4.7L engine. I just got back from the dealership and they said I need to replace 2 of the shift solenoids, but he recommended replacing the entire valve body because it comes with all of the solenoids. Does this make sense and is the valve body and shift solenoids dealer only parts or would a local parts store (autozone, advance or napa) carrry these parts. Also does anybody have any instructions on replacing these parts?

Take it to a good shop and get a modified Transgo shift kit installed and have the valve body fully modified if you are going that far.

If it's just the solenoids then just replace them. First things first, whats the problem?
