fj mirrors
hmmmmm, i got some ideas, but idk how to explain what im thinking, and for my idea you need the big tow mirrors that came on the 01 and newer durangos w/ the tow package
ill see if i can figure out the parts for you just give me some time

ok my plan requires (for EACH SIDE so x2 for doing both drivers and passenger side)

and some bondo or fiberglass material, and a willingness to cut into your nice power tow mirrors
what you do is take the reflectors from the mag lights I(the first link) and cut the plastic so that you can fit the reflector into it for mounting, and then be willing to cut your brand new reflector to kind of follow the curve of the mirror, then glue it in place and glass in around it so that it flows smoothly up to the lenses
and you need some type of clips to hold the lensplastic lenses on, a little bit of heat froma hair dryer should be enough to allow you to flex the lense to follow the flow of the mirror, or cut it down in size to fit recessed farther in.
alternately you could also find all the parts by buying two FULL c cell LED mag-lites which you will then dissect for the necessary parts for this,
now keep in mind if you plan to run these full time, get the amber or colored lenses for the maglights since the LEDS are awfully bright, you also need to find a way to scale the voltage down to 3-6 volts depending on which set of bulbs you get, you COULD run them in series off a 12 volt power supply (then each of them would use 6 volts), a wiring source and figuring all of that out is on you atm, if i think of something i will post it up, this is how i would do the mod that YOU are looking for,
btw if i were doing this i would put an amber strip across the back of the black plastic and light that up as another driving light JMHO
EDIT:::::: you also need a mounting bracket (the socket for the LED bulb) from a maglight which matches the type of light you are salvaging the parts from, this makes buying two of the maglights you plan to use more convienient than trying to find parts individually
BTW my spellling sucks on here so give mea break as long as you get what im saying

so basicaly your telling me to buy brand new mirrors cut them and put like only the reflector, light bulb or led light, and plastic lens. which is just like takin off the head of any flashlight and weld it into the my brand new mirrors ???.....and would the 01 mirrors fit onto the 99 durango ???
hmmm.....it souds dangerous.....and may cost some money.....I LIKE IT.
check this light guys you think it may work....but i still dont get where i would wire the light to ???....maybe to the fog light cable ??? for it can work with the fog lights, you know i can turn them off and on
check this web and tell me what you think about this light ..... im thinking about using it if i can. http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/forum...or-lights.html

yes the 01-3 mirrors will fit on a 99, they have the same emounting surface(both year spans use the same small mirror) and no welding, you are glassing the reflector onto the back of the mirror and then running the wires inside the housing behind the glass
