Default Humming sound

Hi there ,

I have a 03' Durango that has ran flawlessly. It started making a rather peculiar sound not long ago. Once I hit 60mph + it hums...the best sound I can think of is like a kazoo. It is a steady noise, never getting louder or softer, just constant. The sound seems to be coming from front of the dash but really seems that it is in the engine compartment, closest to the fire wall. No lights come on when this happens, no hesitation w/ the motor. It keeps chugging along but w/ a kazoo player under my hood !! lol

Any hints, info, or advice is appreciated !

Sounds like an air leak into the cabin, does the noise change with the window open?

Wheel bearing or U-joint/Yoke bearing.

I'm thinking Wheel Bearing. Seems to be a small problem with that year.

First things first. Get the tires balanced and rotated.

If you cross swap the tires ie front right to rear left etc and the noise changes=tires are the culprit..

I'll try the window.......

The tires were brand new one year ago so it's past due for balance/rotating. I'll get on that beginning of next week.
Have them gander at the bearings and such while their doing tires to.

Thanks for the replies, let ya's know how I make out !
