Exclamation 2002 4.7 2wd Durango stalling out

durango has issues... keeps stalling out...

have had lots of codes, and tried to address them... here is the deal....

p0440 (have not yet replaced purge solenoid or gas cap -- this is reoccuring quite frequently also)
p0441
p0123 (right after i changed the tps - reset, never came back again)
p0068 WILL NOT GO AWAY, ITS ON AGAIN, RIGHT NOW
p0339 CURRENTLY ON WITH ABOVE RIGHT NOW

i have changed out several parts. master tech here (leonard) has also looked into it, and said the wires were ok per continuity

here is what i have done (everything i have ever touched on the D)

• bank 1, sensor 2 - O2 sensor 7/08 (p0036 long before the p0068)
• upper balljoints 11/08
• lower balljoints 11/08
• battery 11/08
• throttle position sensor 2/09
• camshaft position sensor 3/09
• crankshaft position sensor 3/09
• transmission mount 3/09
• map sensor 3/09
• powertrain control module 4/09

previous to problem, not sure of dates -- most likely unrelated
• 3rd row seat
• air filter
• spark plugs
• a/c condenser
• bulb in 3rd brake light
• stop lamp bulb
• headlight bulb

wife says her brother in law saw thick black smoke leaving our garage the other day, just a puff or 2, after truck had been sitting all night

wife says engine stalls out when oil pressure guage moves to the hot mark.... don't know if this is related or not.... but this is when it stalls -- she said it never used to move at all when running, just in the middle, before the p0068 started occurring

stalls out on long drives, usually 60 miles or more, has stalled out in short city driving, but not as much

she says her oil temp gauge never used to move, ever, before we started having issues with the p0068

she runs royal purple synthetic oil, durango has 115k on it

gets routine oil changes, and scheduled other fluid changes

it was placed on a drb3 scanner and nothing showed other than the codes

0068 code is the Map sensor and the other is the 0339 crank position sensor. Seems like a lot of sensor issues. Ever have a coolant bathe under the hood from a busted hose or something?

Your list says they were replaced. Have them done again and this time make them do it for free. The issues are still there.

Wow, that's alot of sensors. Even with replacements, the codes still exist. Have you reset the computer to see if it clears some of these codes? If they reappear, I would recommend check the wiring harness going into and out of the pcm. Make sure no connection is frayed, corroded, etc. Must be tight, sealed from the external elements.

computer has been reset, and codes come back, even after part replaced..... wiring was checked @ the dodge dealership and was found to be ok..... did have a 2.5 voltage reading of the 5 v supply circuit, thus wht the PCM replaced...... code has come back again.....

P0068 MAP/MAF-Throttle Pos Correlation
P0123 Throttle Pos Sens Voltage Hi
P0339 Crank Pos Sens Circ Interm
P0440 Evap Sys Perf
P0441 Evap Purge Flow Monitor

Black smoke is unburned fuel.

This sounds like a Central Timer Module. It must be flashed at the dealer.

im a mechanic 3rd year apprentice in canada ill try to help the best i can but i need some information..... how does it stall?? is it comming to a stop and the rpm's just drop..... i need to know what the engine is doing as it stalls and give me more information on your oil pressure gauge its not a temperature gauge its a pressure gauge when it goes in the red is bad but the most common this is a oil pressure sensor being faulty... lets not worry about the "black smoke" just yet tell me about your stalling

CTM does not equal the PCM. If you replaced the PCM and as Hydra suggested it is the CTM, you could still have the issues. I haven't heard of the CTM causing that sort of stuff but contrary to popular belief (in my own head) I don't know it all. Could be! Doesn't hurt to find out from the dealer since everything else has been tried.
