Default 4 Wheeling???

I was wondering if anyone has taken their D off road and how durable it is and how they do certain conditions. Also, what lifts are the best to use on a Durango. Any lockers or Limited Slip Devices that can be recommended would be great too.

Thanks for the help and I love reading the posts on the site. Full of Very good information and knowledge.

I just took mine off road the other day... I bottomed out in a few places that my buddy can go right through with his Suzuki Sammy, but his wheel base is almost two feet shorter than my Durango! It did pretty good otherwise... I just have the T/S lift on mine with stock 31 size tires... I think a 3" body lift and the T/S lift with 33's is a good combo... But have no personal experience with that... As for lockers/limited slip, I have no clue but when I put it in 4lo, it out does the Sammy with climbing STEEP hills... I had NO problem yesterday climbing a grassy 50 degree hill...

Great off roaders but then again it's all in the driver and not the vehicle.

People have used lockers if you search for the info people have returned with great info. Detroit Lockers are great and so are ARB. Found this one for my truck for about 5 bills.

Thank you all for the information. I actually have used the powertrax in my Jeep Liberty that I wish I never got rid of. It really made a big difference and I didn't do anything to the front end. I don't plan on doing a lot of offroading but, I do like to go and want to know that I will have the traction when needed and/or wanted. The Locker wasn't that difficult to install either. Sounds good. As for lifts, where would be a good place to find one for reasonable pricing?

Thanks again for all of your help and advice.

You can do a quick lift of around 2" for less than $100.00. Just order some Belltech 6400 shackles for the back and crank toyr torsion bars 8 tuirns each. This gives you about 2" of lift. As for wheeling ability. My D does a pretty good job but the weak front axle has given me problems. I have busted 2 axle housings. Not the axles or CV shafts, but the actual housing. Good luck and have fun

Thanks for the information. But, can someone give me a pic of what they mean by cranking on the torsion bars and which way you should turn them? Also, what affect with this have on the torsion bars? Is this the best way or is there a new spring or spacer that would work better? Just trying to get as much information as I can before I do something.

Thanks again for all the information, help and advice.

A little bit before the midway point on your durango, if you crawl under, there will be two bolts on each side... Almost hard to miss... There will be two large bars coming from the front of the vehicle to the midway point... There are two bolts that face upwards and take a 15/16" socket... Jack the front end up and USE JACK STANDS! Crank those bolts 8 turns as if you were tightening them... So they need to go clockwise....
