For a crisp clean sound, you dont want the speakers facing toward the front. Either have them facing the rear and Down Firing.

Ya I didn't even think of how that would sound. Hey to the guy who had the custom box, did you build it yourself? Yes- interested in making some extra money??? and No- where did you get it?

Hey, that link does not work anymore. At least at the time of this response.

I remember at one time, they made some 8 or 10 inch sub enclosures that fill up the empty space on the side of the durango at the back. But did not see these anymore. It filled up that gap and make the back really contoured and nice looking. Colored to match. With these side mounted subs, you sacrifice NO SPACE in the back and still have access to your floor cabinet in back.

A representation of what it looks like: This is for a dodge calibur but when you see how the sub is made, you will get the idea for the durango.

Kensai,

I looked for years for the Clarion setup that was an 8" sub set into the hatch wall. No luck. I think they discontinued it way to earlyand before the aftermarket needs set in.

The current alternative to not losing any space, but you do loose the 2nd row center seat, is the JBL Stealthbox. Its a sub built directly into the seat.

I ran across this while looking for some replacement speakers for my doors. Does anyone have any hands on with it or knows whether or not it performs well. I don't want to rattle the world, just add some nice, clean bass to my ride without the large boxes and shiny amps. Those days are past me now.

So I just finished the install of my new door speakers and I must say, the new ones sound incredible compared to the stock. The stock speakers suck!!!

Which speakers did you go with?

Also has anyone inquired on installing speakers in the arm rest sections as outlined in this photo?

That photo has the MTX Thunderforms sub in the cubby as shown. I have one of those for sale for cheap. Never used it personally, but the one I have is used.
