Default Stereo Help!

Hey I'm new around these parts and I've got a couple of questions. First, those of you who have installed subs in your Durango with the third row seating, where did you mount the box? Secondly, what kind of head unit do you use?

You can use the stock stereo with an in line converter. Get a box and mount the amp in the COmpartment. That way you can just disconnect the speaker wire and take it out if you need to.

I made my own! I can get exact dimensions and stuff later if you want... I have 2 kicker 12's in there... It also doubles as a workbench/changing table/seat/etc and doesn't move around under hard driving!

If you need a thread looking at a lot of various sub designs in the Durango specifically, let me know.

I love my sub, however hate the loss of the rear entry and the loss of space. Once you commit to a rear sub, the hauling, storage and general use of the D changes dramatically.

That custom box is awesome! But... call me stupid, but i don't see the actual subs. So where are they? And do you not have it mounted on anything? I would think that would rattle like a **** when the system is cranked. And Indy, I don't use the rear seat or the trunk area at all, so I'm not afraid to lose any space. I was thinking about mounting the box on the rear of the third seat, seeing how I always have it laid down. With that idea, the subs would be facing the front of the vehicle when the seat is laid flat, and when the seat is actually being used, the subs would be pointing towards the ceiling. Anyone else done something simular?

And yes, I would love fore you to post a link to that thread.

He has a downfiring sub, which in the back is a good idea if you like to store stuff ontop without having to worry about a speaker/speaker grill. If you look to the bottom of it the sides are extended leaving space for the speakers to function normally.

Yep! Duranged has it right... I have the subs down facing and the ONLY thing that rattles in the vehicle is the vents behind the bumper... But you won't get those to not rattle unless you glue them closed or remove them... The rattle is only heard on the outside...

Ahhhh I see! How clever! But back to a previous question, How are they mounted? And has anyone seen anything like my idea where the box is mounted on the rear of the third row seat?

Also, what kind of setup do you guys have? I have gone back and forth from getting 3+ 10s and 2-3 12s. Obviously, I'm a young kid who likes his music loud and in your face.
