If Autozone looks at you like a lost puppy when you insist on brass contacts...

NAPA Echlin cap and rotor. Not the standard NAPA cap and rotor... the ECHLIN and you are all set.

Did you check the IAC solenoid on the back of the throttle body? It can get gummed up with carbon or fail causing the same OD surging problems you described.

Hi FubarGrn,

Did you ever solve that issue with your Durango? I have a 2000 Durango 5.9 L Magnum and it is doing the same thing. I am so frustrated so far and am at a total loss. If switching out the plugs, wires, cap and then flushing the tranny worked I would love to know. Thanx.

Well I don't think he'll update since this thread is 2 1/2yrs old LOL. But I would do the tune as prescribed above. Mine started to shutter at low rmp when I put my foot down. New cap and rotor cured it.

If anyone has any other Ideas I would love to hear them but so far this is my only option with out spending a ton of money on a shop (which I don't have) I will let you know if it worked on Monday! I am doing it all this weekend!
