Default Power Windows and Rear Wiper Issue

Hi There,

Just purchased a 2002 Durango and am noticing a few problems:

1. Power windows only work on driver's console. I have gotten it to work a few times on the passenger seat but mostly it does nothing when you try to move window down or up. The same goes for the two rear windows. They all work perfectly fine when using the driver's console though. Is this a fuse issue?

2. The rear windshield wiper does not work. The dealership did inform me that they cut off the rear air because it was not working and the cost to fix was going to be expensive. Just wondering if this could cause issues with rear wiper? The front AC blows cold and hard so not having rear AC was not an issue for me.

Thanks!

OK

The master button needs to be replaced because it sounds like the child lock isn't fully being disengaged or you haven't pushed the button to disengage it.

I would look into the rear air thing to get it fixed but each to their own. The rear wiper should have a fuse or check the leads for power.

The rear air uses the same compressor as the front and if the rear evaperator was leaking the whole a/c system would drain out. Does the rear fan work of did they disconnect it?

I have the exact same problem with my 03 Durango, with the windows. Is this something that I can do myself relatively easily? Or is there a way to permanently disable it so that my passengers can use their windows without me having to roll them up and down for them?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Tim

I had the same issue in a Stratus I had. I had to replace the Drivers switch console. I guess after much use(in my case) the "lock-out"
switch failed. I found one at a junk yard for $40 as a new one was $100(3 years ago). I recently had a similar problem in my 99 Durango and also had to replace the switch console. It was $102. I bought the last one my local O'Reillys' had and another would take 2 weeks. I recomend searching a junk yard for one that has not been exposed to the weather to save time and money.
Either way the job is easy just handle with care, as I did not, so you don't break any of the clips on the panel!

I had the same issue in my 2002 Durango. Replaced the master switch for $40 on Ebay.. took about 5 minutes to switch it out.

Thanks for the advice guys. It looks like I'll be switching out the master switch at some point.

Your help is greatly appreciated!

^ Yep ^

The master switch in the drivers side door is the most likely candidate.

I pops right out of the drivers side door and you simply replace it.
