I am doing the same thing with my 2000 durango. They should be the same size. Mine are 6". I have looked and compared about every brand. I use to do installs years ago to make extra money in school. I let the pros do it now. Got to complicated for me.The speakers will depend on whether or not you keep your factory head unit. If you keep the factory unit, then you want to get the closest thing you can to the factory speakers. Of course expect to spend some big money. Most that i have looked at runs $100-$300 a set. But if you want to save some money and still have a great system. Replace the whole system. Depending on the brand, you can replace it all for about $400 plus install fee.

If you are planning on doing it yourself, check out crutchfield.com I have used them for two different vehicles for the head unit and the speakers. They give you free wiring harnesses (vehicle specific) and an instruction manual for installation that is vehicle specific. Prices are great and you get free install stuff...check them out.

if you have the infinity upgrade stock and havnt blown out the speakers yet, they sound amazing with a little more power to them. which can be helped with a nice new deck. But if you putting Subs in then you should upgrade to some good door speakers. Alpine S-Types sound amazing and they get super loud if you just amp them

First you have to remove the OEM amplifier in the passenger kick panel?

I replaced the HU, door speakers, added an amp for the door speaker, and added subs and an amp for those (obviously) all by my lonesome. After it was all said and done, the absolute hardest thing was by passing the factory amp. that sucker was a pain in my ****. But all in all, the whole thing isnt too hard. just make sure you keep track of the screws you take put and where they go back. And if you want some advice on what kind to get, i have an Alpine X305 HU, Infinity speaker, Alpine mrp f300, 2 12in JL W3s, and an Alpine mrp f1000. Amazing sound no matter what I listen to!
