Where is the MAP sensor and how do you replace it? Sounds like something I want to try. My 5.9L has 120k on it and probably needs it.

Kensai put up install pictures. It's on the front side of the throttle body if your standing in the front of the car.

This morning I followed the diagnostic procedure according to the Haynes manual for voltage to and through the MAP. All checked out within spec. No change needed. FYI though: replacement costs: O'Reilly - $93.99, Advance Auto - $97.99, NAPA - $123.99. It would have paid to shop around.

If, he's getting 17-18mpg on the highway at around 70mph. I wouldn't worry about it.

Just wanted to post that I am about just under 1/2 tank and did some little highway driving as I used this truck to get to work, so the 10 mile trip with mix intown driving, I only average around 11.5 mpg not much if any improvement over previous. But powerwise however is a totally different story. I really feel like my 5.9 just got a 50 hp boost! Now to start looking at replacing my O2 sensors. If this does not give me any better mpg, I guess my R/T is just plain thirsty!

If it makes a difference, below is a link to some of the Dakotas owners that's tried a new map sensor and their responses.

I must be lucky, my 2000 5.9L gets 15-17 consistently. I have 70,000 on it and haven't had a drivability problem with it.
