Can the fuel filters be changed independent of the fuel pump? thought they were a package thing.

Don't know if the fuel pump CAN be taken apart... Did you use a BFH?!?!?! Try rinsing the filter off, see if it changes color. If not, you just bought a new pump!

They are built to be replaced by a complete new unit.

Think about this..... Most are ment to go 80k and thats about it. Any more mileage is money in the bank. Also something to look at is, if the pump has been sucking through that dirty filter than it has put undue strain on the internal parts and therefore the replacement should be warranted.

I know of no replacement filters.

Just throw and old sock over the end of the pickup and call it a filter... Sheesh!

(Just kidding BTW)

All my socks have holes in the toes.. wouldn't help much. Plus I don't need my exhaust smelling like stinky feet.

Oxidization I think.
