Default ATF+3 Superseded

Well when I was up at the Dealership and tried to get some more stock pile and they've run out.

So sounds like it's ATF+4 now. Thats ok because it's better anyway just thought I'd let everyone know it's gone.....

+2. I recently did a tranny fluid change and just out of curiousity, was looking around for any ATF+3 and none exist. Only ATF+4 avail now. Seems that Valvoline is the only ATF4 fluid out there as aftermarket fluid. I was not able to find any alternate makers that makes ATF+4.

Damn, walmart charges $4.97 per quart of Valvoline ATF+4. Napa charged me $4.50 a quart.

http://dodgeram.info/tsb/2006/21-010-06.htm

check out the link^

...NOTE: ATF+4® is backward compatible with ATF+3 , ATF+2, and ATF+. Additionally,
ATF+4 can be used to top off vehicles that used ATF+3, ATF+2, or ATF+.

NOTE: If ATF+4® is used to service models originally filled with ATF+3 , ATF+2, and
ATF+ the fluid maintenance schedules listed for that model does not change.
The service interval currently in effect for a given model should continue to
be followed. Refer to the Service or Owners manual for maintenance
schedule directions.

In general terms, If ATF+, ATF+2 or ATF+3 was the recommended fluid, it is now
recommended to use ATF+4...

The rule of thumb is that you can always go wtih a higher grade fluid, but cannot get a lesser grade fluid below the required minimum.

An example would be a car requiring regular unlead can use premium unlead. But a car requiring premium unlead cannot use regular unlead.

Wow, those are alot of choices. Too bad I never seen any of them in my area (Napa, autozone, walmart) except for Valvoline brand. Maybe it's this particular area of DFW that valvoline tranny ATF+4 reigns!

I bet there are not that many makers of ATF+4, it's just resold and rebranded by that many.

Rumor used to be that Valvoline was the OEM manufacturer for Mopar's ATF+4. Interestingly, the formulas between the Mopar version and the Valvoline concoctions are different.
