Default engine cuts off

I bought a 2000 Durango 5.9 R/T. It's got a little over 140,000 miles on it. The engine has started cutting off on me while i am driving. No check engine light or any other codes. I have to let it set for about 15 minutes before it will start again. Anyone got an idea what it might be?

Could be the Coil. Could be the CPS, could be the PCM.

It got worse today. It quit on me three times in about a 30 minute time frame. the last time it quit it showed "no bus" on the odometer and the check engine light came on. but when i turned the key off and back on, they both cleared out.

No bus is typically the PCM. Most PCM failures are 1998/99s. Not as frequent on the 2000s. Any aftermarket mods on your D now?

Try unplugging the PCM, cleaning the connections real good with contact cleaner and plug it all back in nice and tight. That may get it if it isn't a failure and just a connection issue.

Sounds similar to when my ignition coil went out on me.

Ignition problem or faulty computer. Try a solid ignition replacment: Coil, cap, rotor, plugs and plug wires. It wouldnt hurt anything

I thank you for the update.. it does nothing but "help" others to find their problems and spread knowledge to others on the forum to share with others. Wish more would post back as u did with an update to what the problem was.

Remember that you have to have the new PCM flashed with the information on your truck including the VIN# at the dealer.
