Project Durango
As some of you know, I aquired a 1999 SLT with a bad engine and made the engine swap from a 360 to a 318. Now that the 360 is on the stand and the 318 is running in the Durango, I have focused attention to the rebuild of the 360...
I am ordering the 408 stroker package next week, engine will be sent to my local machine shop for magnaflux, bore and modification. I am not sure what I am doing for heads or cam in the truck yet, this vehicle will be a street drivable truck for the wife hehe... I will also be rebuilding my first transmission with a little help from others. I will keep you all posted the events and give you a cost breakdown for those of you who are the "do-it-yourself" types.
As of right now, the wife likes the 318 but I think it's a dog - so it's time to get going on the upgrade!
Then comes my Ram next.....

Ya, I saw those on Jegs. Nice heads, but I may just order some new valves, lockers and punch the stock heads out. The cam will remain OEM hydro roller with some hardened pushrods and a set of better hydro lifters.
If you need more lift then install the 1.7 lift but the OEM is 1.6 lift. The 1.7 lift will act like caming the motor and that way you don't OVER cam with the heads. IF your heads are good to punch then do it like I did but most of the time (90%) aren't any good. These are steel heads and they are prone to crack.
Make sure you roller everything out.
Get a 52mm fastman TB (at least), M1 intake, shorty headers unless you supercharge. I would go for the Autolite 3923 spark plugs for the colder spark.
You'll have to increase fuel ratio so new injectors are needed.
