Default Factory sound system need replacing

My 1999 Durango needs to have the speakers replaced, i'm not looking to replace them with really expensive speakers i just want to replace them with speakers that are at least as good as factory or maybe a little better i just dont want to spend a lot of $$$$$, as well as the radio itself needs to be replaced, cd player does not work, any help in sugjesting a desent system (radio and speakers), your help would be apprecated.

You wont really ever come close to the orig speakers, esp in bass repro. Honestly just go to wally world and find a set of pioneers (Think its like $75. a pair) 2ohm speakers same size and go to town.

You need to make sure that you replace the speakers with only 2ohm. Normal are 4ohm.

Look here:

Also there is some information in here on the main Durango 1st gen page. Ther info is already there.

OEM speakers run at least $100 each. Installation would be extra. Had to replace mine. I do find though that the amp can over power the speakers if you crank it too high. It can still produce some awesome sound at a moderately high volume level.

Far as replacement speakers go OEM, you will not match the sound quality at that price. You will have to spend $$$ in order to match or surpass that of the OEM system..
