45FRE trany is the number.

Are we working on a 2000 Durango with the 4.7L 4X4?

Default k here is what I got

its a 2000 durango 4X4 and yes a 4.7L that right now has a 45RFE in it that is shuddering real bad trying to get into overdrive. so I picked up this tranny from a 2000 durango that had a blown motor,,,, figured the tranny should still be good..and coming out of the same year and type of vehicle .... it wouldn't be a problem... well now that I have the transfer case out and everything except for the tranny I noticed the only difference between the 2 is the "E" on the last part of the 45 type. Everything looks to be the same even the electricle plug ins. My transfer case even bolt to.
I would hate to install this and not have it work so any help would be greatly appreciated.... thanks

Sounds like a manufacture code.

I'd install it. Call a dealer if you think there's an issue.

The 3.9l had the 42RE.
The 5.2L had the 44RE.
The 5.9L had the 46RE.
The 4.7 has the 45RFE or 545RFE.

As far as I know... The 45RF comes from a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Since the 45RFE and 545RFE is for the Durango 4.7l and since that transmission is all PCM controlled, I would NOT put in that trans for the Jeep. Who knows what electrical controls the Jeep has that the D doesn't and vice versa. Whoever told you that was from a D is wrong. From a 4.7 yes. A Durango, not likely but who knows how it got there before you got it.

Good luck.

Thanks for the update and the added insight. Being from a Durango... that makes better sense. Had it been the 45RF as you stated, it's a Jeep trans. Who knows what would have worked or not. Interesting info on the sticker. Good luck!
