Not needed. Runs cooler without it.

Wouldnt cause over heating.
What did the mechanic have to do that required the removal?
Maybe the coolant system was never burped?

it's not a splash guard it clips onto the radiator to help deflect air flow into the radiator

Unhappy

heres the story easter weekend while driving on the highway my original engine with less then 85k blew. my mechanic found clogged with sludge so had a rebuilt engine from Jasper installed within week of getting it back it started overheating.
Now while driving in the city with a/c on the engine starts to heat up when it gets to about 235degrees the o/d light pops on and engine looses all get up an go and is sluggish. the clutch fan seems to work alot harder at that point.
so far we have replaced therostat, a/c condenser/ clutch fan, checked water pump (is ok), made sure sepentine belt is on correct, radiator not plugged or leaking, have checked various sensors , now checking intake manifold gasket if that is not it calling jasper engines for more advice.
i think my new engine bad but have to go thru motions to get new one installed. engine only has 1700 miles on it. if anyone has any ideas what is going on would appreciate it. we have not had any major issues until the engine locked up
