Default Time for some upgrades

I need some help. I need to spice up the ole Durango, but I'm not sure which parts are best. I'm on a shoestring budget too...makes things a little harder.

Here's what I'd like to do:

1) its gotta be louder. Will just a performance muffler (i.e. Flowmaster) give me a louder tone, or will have also have to add the cost of headers? All new pipe seems like a large expense.

2) I like the look of the new Goodyear Wrangler MT/R tires. I'll probably stick with the stock 15" rims as the cost of new wheels are pretty high.

3) The tires would probably look better underneath a 4" lift.

4) New shocks, current shocks are worn out.

5) Cold air intake - any need for this?

For the most part, I'm pretty mechanically inclined, so I'm not opposed to doing work myself if I don't need special tools for anything.

Start by getting over the sound bug. Get you a FlowMaster Series 40 and she will be plenty loud enough. No need to replace the rest of the pipes unless they are damaged. Cut out the old muffler, weld in the new one and a tiny piece of pipe to get it all to fit. You will get a little performance gain out of that too. That's a fairly cheap, easy and nice return on your initial modification.

I put a straight pipe on my exhaust...loud without any restriction! I also put a cold air intake on my 5.9L Durango...didn't go with K&N, went with an off brand to save some $$$ and it works great!! If you are looking for an aggresive tread tire, i just put some General Grabber AT2's on mine and they look awesome and perform the same (Look like BF Goodrich All Terrain's - Less $$)! Just a few things I did...hope it helps you!
