PCM Fried
My daughter just had to have a new radio in the 99 and basically I am sure I fried the PCM. Battery cable to radio went direct to ground. Replaced fuse to get radio and interior light going but the NO BUS is on the dash and the car just cranks and doesn't start. Anything else I can check before I order an aftermarket one?
Well you opened a can of worms here, lets hope its a small can. First lets check the obvious, fuses. Need to check all of them including a specific fuse called the ignition off draw (IOD), The IOD fuse is in the fuse box under the hood and is the fuse that supplies power to the PCM.
If good post back and let us know.

Well I could not tell you if that is it or not,but if blown it would keep your gages ext all from working. Also need to look at the breaker in that box, should be a spare one in there and use it to check the others. need to rule all fuses before moving onto other items such as cluster and pcm. not saying it is impossible to make one of those items go bad by what you have done, but most likely it would blow a fuse before damage is done.
Looked at all the fuses today with no luck, Still have No Bus error message and gas,oil and battery guages not working everything else seems OK. ANy other suggestions would be appreciated
man it really could be several things from this point. I was hoping we had a blown fuse. could be a bad ground, short, bad cluster, bad pcm or your radio install was not correct. (several other things as well) I personally have not installed a radio in a Durango but have installed many in the past on all kinds of vehicle. Some you had to have a install kit because for some reason the instrument panel went threw the radio somehow and you had to have a wire harness that comes with the kit. not like the old day where it was just a power wire, ground and a few speaker wires.
I will look around but i would start with a multimeter and start checking if i had power to the pcm, and if i had power to the cluster.

yes.. its kinda like its own computer and if not working as it should will keep it from starting and show no bus. like i said it can be several things other then the PCM. Problem is you have to find out what it is before you buy because these parts are not cheap. So reading up and using a multimeter can help you locate the issue. I may not be able to get it tonight (or a few nights) but i will try to look up diag procedures far as what voltage you should have at what points. OR IF somebody is nice enough to dig that up for ya that would be cool.
