Default aftermarket cams

i have a question. for the 4.7l engine on the 2001 durango would h/o cams be better or the 206 cams? i heard that 206 cams could mess with your piston rings, caus eit will make higher compressions. what is your opinion on this? and where would the cheapest place be to buy such cams? thanks lots of places i look it says they are backordered. and for the 206 cams would it be simple enough to just swap stock for 206 cams? or do i need to replace other things like i heard some wher ei might need lash caps? what are those thanks.

What are you trying to achieve?

You can mod the hell out of your 4.7l and it will still be slower than a slightly modded 5.9L ya know. There is no substitute for cubic inches nor old school motors.

Get a tuner 1st.

Get a HO intake 2nd.

Get a Fastman TB 3rd.

Get 3.92 gears in rear end 4th.

Get Cams last.

Still be slower than a 5.9L

I'm running 206 Cams and you will need lash caps. If you buy 206 cams, make sure you buy a set with lash caps. If you go smaller grind i.e. 212 or smaller you will need a custom tune/flash, beehives valve springs and lash caps. Besides the blower, my 206 cams were one of my biggest power adders.

I will tell you this. I coudn't tell the difference between my HO cams and 206 until Hemifever wrote my cam tune. If you plan on 206s, I would look at a custom tune to bring them to life. Good luck.
