question lads

02 durango slt. i was wondering if the chrome bumber cover that the dakotas have could be swapped in with our setup. also if it is a different 2piece bumper or if it is just a cover???

any help would be great i have to move on it quickly if i can work with it

 

taking a guess i would say that the bumpers CAN be swapped out, unfortunately i dont hvae a 2nd gen dak anymore to confirm that (my dad just sold his) how much can you get it for? if its a good enough deal jump on it and figure out how to bolt it on if it doesnt line up right (although i think it should)

 

about 60 but i want to get it not only b/c its cool looking but the clear is coming up on some of the edges and looks shatty. i will probably get it and just modify it, we share the same bumper but those seem to be a 2 piece whereas mine is a single plastic piece

 

yes they can be swapped but you would have to buy a lower valance along with the new chrome bumper and then have the valance painted to match.

 

im pretty sure that our bumpers are the same as the daks, and we just have a plastic cover built into the lower valence (if memory serves me right my dads 03 dak had the same type of thing and i know he had plastic on the bumper)

so instead of the valence bolting onto the bumper (or however its attached) like on the older daks on the Durangos its just one piece of plastic that covers the bumper and has the valence in it

 

Yes that is true, the newer 1 piece has what they call a bumper but a bumper reinforcement

older is just a bumper and lower valance that is connected by screws with backing clips

Yes Dakota and Durango share the same front end parts. The Durango sits on a Dakota frame and the front ends are the same.

Also it is possible to use newer 1 piece on older 2 piece models as long as you have all the mounting material ext...

yea ind is right 01-03 durangos and 01-04 daks (i believe they changed them over the same year)
