Default 2003 Durango Transmission

I have a question about the transmission we have with the 4.7. I currently have no problems and I have 95,000 miles on my truck. I have been thinking about changing the fluid and filters and have been told not to do so that it may cause problems in these vehicles. Has anyone had problems after a change that were not present before? I want to save her for as long as possible and a fluid change I think is needed. I have checked the level, color and smell of the fluid and everything is good.It has AWD as well as 4 Lo and Hi.LL comments welcome as I dont have the owners manual.

You are WAY past swapping the fluid and the filter.

ATF+4 can NOT be tested by color and smell as the older fluid can be.

The "problems" you are hearing about involve FLUSHING. DO NOT FLUSH... EVER.

Drop the pan, swap with a real Mopar filter, refill with ATF+4 and you are done. Refer to your manual for the proper service interval. Personally, every 36-48,000 miles. You are 2 to 3 times that. If you value the transmission you have and are not interested in a $3000+ replacement, spend the $150 and get it done as soon as it is practical.
