Default What transmissions will fit my 2000 Durango

Hi i need help with my durango transmission. I have a 2000 dodge durango with the 5.9l engine. I have been looking for a different transmission to put in it without any luck. All i find are transmission problems and complaints but no alternatives. Is there any other transmission that will work other than stock. I've seen a level 10 transmission in an off road magazine being put into a durango. The durango was heavily modified so i dont know if that particular one would work in a stock durango or how good they are. Will a 727 transmission work ive read somewhere that it may be interchangable.
Thanks for the help.

46RE is what you have and is what u need it is the strongest version of that particular style of Transmission (that was offered in the Durango) You could downgrade to a 44RE or a 42RE without having to change much. Get you a decent built 46RE and take care of it (key right there, you HAVE TO service it when you are supposed to or they simply will not last, you do service when ur supposed to people on here have over 300,000 on them)

Dan at www.thefastman.com builds a good transmission. Tell him you wanna swap the 46RE for a rebuilt 46RE.

I was thinking the same thing you were. Go with Martin Saine, you will be all set. No need to swap in something else. Ya, these trannys are a piece of **** but when they have been rebuilt correctly you will never have to worry about it again. I just got mine from him for $1850.

Hydrashocker, you really are quite the shocker!!! I think you just ruined my day..... I hope this is not what I'm getting, that would really suck. He told me that HE does special machining to these trannys to make them stronger/more clutches, etc and that is where most of the cost comes from.

That's why I love these forums but it seams that we always find out after the fact. I did research and no one has said anything about that, only good things about him. Did he come right out and say that he doesn't build them anymore? Thanks for the info, we all appreciate it.........

Dan at www.thefastman.com does NOT build the transmissions personally! Although he has a partner that builds them in the same shop (I believe) and Dan sells the built transmissions. I've never seen them build a bad one but if you are building a great one you install good bands/clutch packs, custom valve body work, modified Transgo shift kit, and some other tweaking. This is like the same transmission I have only more customized. Remember, you get what you pay for but you also need to watch the builder. I have confedence in Dan's patner. My trany was just over $3k but built to handle like 550 hp. My trany shop does it right the first time but you pay for it!

Get an oversized torque converter to finish it off and only buy a brand new one....NO REBUILDS!

Sorry to give ya the bad news.
