Idling problem... happened twice...
Ok so i'm looking to trade for a 1998 Durango....
This guy says that since he's had it, it has had an idling problem two seperate times, but it goes away...
He said he drove it somewhere, that took about an hour and a half... he shut it off, and it sat for approx. a half hour... when he got back in it, he started it up and it "sounded like it had a huge cam" and when he gave it gas it would die... it did that for about ten mins and then ran perfect and he drove it back home... a couple months later it does the same thing but it only did it for a couple mins... he said he put injector cleaner in it and it has been fine...
Could it have been the injectors were just dirty, or could this be a more serious problem?

and if the battery was dead/dying it wouldn't start.. most likely if it made it run like how it did, then the battery would've been drained enough that it wouldn't have even started...
False:
I've had mine ran down under 12 volts and this is what powers the diode bridge causing the issues. Anything under 12 volts will cause the issues but still start the truck. A dead battery is 11.4 volts and fully charged is 12.8 or better to 14.0 volts. Anything over 14.2 volts is bad IMHO.
Like I said, have the battery load tested also fully charged and clean ALL terminals REALLY GOOD and also the lead ends.

Yo may have enough juice and a connection sound enough to start the engine, but it still won't "run" properly because the voltage is not enough (from a low charge or a crappy connection) to power the PCM at startup. THUS... low idle stumble.
With that explained, I'm done.

alright.. well thanks guys for the info.. i did not trade for the durango.. i didn't think it was as good of a trade after doing some research on it... but my mom has a 2003 durango sxt.. (i think thats what it is lol) and she's got custom exhaust on it lol... no muffler, but a custom y-pipe.. it sounds pretty good and she loves it! and i've drove it quite a bit and i love the way those things drive and run, and the 4x4 works awesome, especially in the winter... i wouldn't mind gettin one eventually...
